Kathy Marx Reception This Sunday
Summit Elementary School Principal Kathy Marx is counting the final few days until her retirement. Her last official day is Jan. 31, but an open house in her honor will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29th, at Nagel Middle School. A Summit chorus will perform around 2:30 p.m. with special presentations beginning around 3:30 p.m.

EcoEagles: Saving the Planet, Making a Difference
Looking to help save the planet, one piece of would-be trash at a time, and possibly earn a few dollars for their school and for special causes, a trio of Mercer sixth-graders made a pitch that’s caught on like wildfire.

A Day for Today’s Woman Returns
Come join us on Saturday, Feb. 25th, as Forest Hills Foundation for Education presents “A Day for Today’s Woman” at Nagel Middle School, 1500 Nagel Road. This fun-filled day offers more than 18 workshops designed especially for women and proceeds benefit the young people of the Forest Hills School District. Miles for Meagan
The Turpin Swim Team is preparing for its upcoming Miles For Meagan event 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Turpin pool. Proceeds will benefit the Meagan Toothman Scholarship fund. All swim team members will swim in a relay type format. Donations will be accepted that day.

Secondary Summer School Registration Starts Feb. 28
Class offerings and registration forms for secondary summer school will be available at the central office, at each secondary school building, and on the Forest Hills School District website at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012 (pending Board of Education approval on February 27, 2012). AHS Wrestling: King of the Hill
Congratulations to the Anderson High School wrestling team on capturing its fourth consecutive King of the Hills title. During the Jan. 19 match, the team beat out Turpin and McNicholas high schools to retain its title. Coach Luke Cripe said, “The KOH was a true team victory and a positive way to go into the tail end of the season. It was a great night of wrestling for all three schools and a tremendous showing from the community."

BRIDGES: Learn More About FHSD and Hear Insights on Resiliency Presentation
The upcoming BRIDGES Parenting Trainings offers two meetings in one. The opening portion includes a presentation by Superintendent Dr. Dallas Jackson and Treasurer Rick Toepfer followed by “Youth and Family: Insights on Resiliency. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 6, at Nagel Middle School.

Round II of the Chick-fil-A Challenge
Nagel Middle School students Brogan Bennell and Dana Middendorf created the winning salad for the second Chick-fil-A challenge. The seventh-graders created “The Tropical Cove.” Their salad will be featured as a menu item for one month at the Beechmont Avenue Chick-fil-A.

Pride of AHS Obtains Fabulous New Trailer
The Anderson Band Boosters recently donated to the Anderson High School Marching Band a new trailer. This is the second such gift the group has donated to the marching band this year.

AHS Senior Named Academic All Ohio FB Team
Congratulations to Anderson High School senior Reed Kaiser on being named as a member of the 2011 Academic All Ohio football team. Only 116 student-athletes from the more than 35,000 players throughout Ohio were recognized. Reed exhibits exemplary academic performance in combination with outstanding athletic ability, according to Coach Jeff Giesting.

Anderson Football in Academic Top 8
Congratulations to the Anderson High Varsity Football team on finishing in the top eight of Academic All Ohio as designated by the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association. In recognition of this distinction, the team will be honored at the Clinic Banquet Friday, Feb. 3.

Board Approves 3.9-mill Levy for March Ballot
The Forest Hills Board of Education voted Nov. 21 to place a 3.9-mill continuing operating levy on the March 2012 ballot and to make additional reductions of $1.2 to $1.5 million.
